Where is here

I see lots of replies about weather, crop progress, etc. on YTMag, and many of them refer to "here". I understand the need for privacy on the interet, but it would be interesting to know a general location of "here".

My rant for the day...thanks for listening.

Stan
"here" in Melblourne, FL

I got to agree.
I consider each and every one of you a friend, but I am old and my memory is bad, so I do not remember where every one lives.
Guess every one can't have a name like mine.

And there is no privacy on the internet. I have been looking up guys for Red Power and if they are dead I find their obituary. So you can't even hide by dying. And a blind guy can even find you. I have a friend who has lost his sight. He found my cell phone number online and called me.

All the more reason for folks to step into the new century and use "modern view" on the forum then fill out a profile. Then everyone can see at a glance just where here is when folks say it.

Dave, 5 miles from where your ball bearings come from in Germany.

Take Care.

Wapakoneta, Jackson Center area of northwest Ohio. Home of the Airstream travel trailers and of the first man on the moon, also several Honda car plants within 60 mile of me.

lol got to remember some of these guys have been on the forum for years as well as some know each other personaly from shows ect, and a few are even kin to each other, which is why things get posted like that ive been here long enought to know where a lot of the frequent posters are, even though ive yet to have the pleasure of meeting any in person, as for me, i live on a small hobby farm in south central nm, about 50 miles up hwy 70 from roswell, [and no, i have not seen any flying saucers] lol

Northeastern MD near the PA and DE state lines.
I use to call it Agnew country when he was our governor and then became Vice President in 1972.
He had somehow forgot to pay his taxes and resigned in 1973. Nixon resigned a year later.

Here is 20 Miles west of Decatur, IL , 25 miles NE of springfield, IL and 30 miles S of Bloomington IL. Right in the central part of Illinois

Collinsville Illinois which is about 22 miles east of St Loius Missouri. This is considered southern IL. Or if you talk to anyone north of Springfield IL they'll tell you we're a bunch of hicks. LOL Mike

Here is about 4 mile south of there . There is just over the hill from over there .

Yeah, I figured that, but I also figured I'd "razz" him. For that matter, Melbourne is also in the same direction a Colo. A lotta States have "exotic" locations in them that, without a State name, could be anywhere in the world.

As Mr. Fudd points out, we probably do better with state names. Va tells you something, while the 1860 biblical name of my mountain probably wouldn't. At 400', pretty tall for Florida I guess, but most in my county would never have heard of it.

But you're right, I just got an invitation here to come help move wood. Turned out to be kind of a long drive.

Ya a good many have it so you have an idea of where they are and some like me you can only guess unless you know the person.
I'm in Missouri the Lake of the Ozarks area and have been since July of 1980 when I got out of the Navy

I am located in Western New York. Halfway
between Buffalo and Rochester near Batavia, New
York.

Since I'm no longer living in Oregon, I decided I'd better change my handle. Now, HERE is a beautiful little valley in Northern, California(cringe when I admit to that part) also known as the State of Jefferson!

Howdy Stan, thinking about the difference of an original Case eagle and a recast, still about 40 -50% of an original $ wise, some say if its not an original its nothing. Dan in Alberta

Milford, Nebraska, where the East peters out.

(Or is it "where the West begins?"

Say what?

How about the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest? Or the 3 day Howell Melon Festival? Some big ones there... Or the Howell Opera House, built in 1881? Even if it's been a few years since the fat lady sang, substantial for 9k population.

The hamlet near me has 1 big day every year. A parade that covers almost 1/4 mile before it runs out of town, and then a gathering to hear 2 local bands. Big stuff.

I have Smith relatives (paternal grandmothers's side) from Colo, Iowa. Also have relatives buried at Rhodes, Iowa cemetary just east of town.

Sometime back I registered with this site and put in my location. Then if someone wants to know where "here" is all they have to do is click on modern view.

Dan,

Good to hear from you. Not sure what our scedule is this summer, but we will be in B.C. sometime in late July or early August. Not sure where we'll be going from Cache Creek and then Summerland, BC, but I would still like to look you up.

It's been a while, so drop me an e-mail with your location and phone number...maybe we can hook up this time.

It is an hour north of me. About the same distance from DC just a little further up the face of the clock. Leesburg is about 10:30 and I"m around 8

I'll chime in with the Illinois boys - Peoria, IL. - suburb of Farmington.

"Here" is the East suburb of Tilden KY. (It ain't on alot of maps so I will say it's 'bout 30 miles from Evansville IN and 30 miles from Old Shawneetown IL.)

Nobody's gonna remember all these or see this post a month from now! I believe what Stan meant was when you do a post where location may have a bearing one way or the other that it would be nice to give a general LOCATION! By the way , I live about half way between Lake huron and Lake Michigan and half way between the Mackinac Bridge and the MI / Indiana state line. (hint)There is a place here where you can come and give any amount of money you want for the privilege of pulling down on a 2' lever , playing cards , throwing dice or partaking in your favorite mind and body altering substance out in the parking lot. AHHH now you know exactly where I live. Chances are you may even know someone who got so wrapped up in all the fun and games that they just had fun all the way to the poorhouse / jailhouse. If I say anymore I will get deleted. Have a good week.

B Maniac,

Good to hear from you. I guess I didn't phrase my comment very well, and I sure do appreciate your understanding what I meant.

Have a good day, and don't lose too much at the tables/machines/etc.

Stan

I agree, just a general idea of where ya'll are would be interesting in the responses. For what its worth, I live in Dallas.

Kruser,

I know about where you are. Been across I-74 so many times in the last 45 years I've lost track. Before that it was 136 and 150 and 6 betwee Crawfordsville, Indiana and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

I worked over by Altona for a while back in 1957, first time I took off on my own as a young man.
