OT: Will RAT SMOKE BOMB work??

I've just come off the road (18 wheeler) and now face the daunting task of "finding" my shop...servicing/starting my tractors and equipment. The real challenge is re-organizing my equipment shed.

There are 2 or 3 (family, maybe??) ground hogs that have taken residence in the back of shed. They have dug down against concrete block foundation and left a big pile of dirt under a platform.

Removal Questions/options/suggestions:
(1) would a "smoke bomb" drive them out?
(2) should I try a live trap? Type of bait?
(3) hire a back hoe to excavate inside of shed?

Thanks in advance for replies and suggestions!! I think I'm gonna have "fun" with this, but GUN PLAY is NOT an option at this point!!

I used to flush rats out of their holes underneath our hog feeders when I was a kid. I used smoke bombs and would place a board over the hole and they would come running out everywhere. My dog sure enjoyed it. You'll almost certainly have to kill them to keep them from coming back.

the big road flares like the highway patrol work great. THey burn for 30 minutes instead of 10-15 like the homeowner type do.

here you are not allowed to use a leg hold trap in a den or burrow, but it sure is the way to get rid of them for sure, just use short chain or they will dig themselves in and you can't pull them out, also couple 55 gallon barrels of water and a club will get them...good luck, they sure are destructive, no matter what, you will now have to watch that burrow cause others will smell where that one was and use the hole..

Yep - its smoke bombs. Im sure some of the other ideas will work just fine but I have used the "rodent destroyer" type for years. Easy and quick, just light up push down the hole and cover all the openings with dirt. It is an irritating gas so keep the kids away.

You can buy rodent bombs, or use road flares, but the best way to do this is to make sure mr. groundhog is home when you gas him, and that you know where all the holes are, they often have a hole dug from underneath, with no dirt showing above. Another thing that helps is to dig the hole out, a little, and plug it with a capped gallon milkjug, then cover it over with about a foot of dirt. After closing all the holes but 1, drop your incendiaries of choice down that hole, insert the last jug, and tamp with shovel or foot. Friday before last, I saw a groundhog, outside my shop, under a tractor, I snuck up on him, and kicked him square in the snoot, then landed on him with both feet, had him so stunned or cornfused, that he ran toward a retaining wall, instead of his hole. I had him cornered, and beat him into immobility, with a piece of wood, and finished him with a iron fence post. Did I mention, I hate groundhogs?

Use a flexible hose hooked to your exaust pipe, and run engine, plug hole around pipe and watch for exaust leaks at other places and as you find them fill them and the exaust will kill them the same as it will kill a person in a closed garage with engine running, and no fire danger either. Those bombs that you buy say do not use in buildings because they can burn the barn down, now if no cumbustables around will work but do not use them around wood buildings. And my buildings are all wood buildings.
