The oil pan on my C farmall is cracked in the two rear corners. What is the best way to fix this? Brazing, welding, JB Weld, bubble gum? Will the heat from welding or brazing distort the pan? any ideas?

depending on the particulars of the cracks, welding, brazing, or JB weld might work. You could probably find a good used oil pan though for a reasonable price and not have to worry with patching up a cracked one.

I have never worked on a C, but have brazed a
few pans with good success. Did one on an Oliver
30 years ago and it has not cracked. Also back
then I was not very good at brazing.

you could braze it but would have to pull it off to do it, would worry about starting a fire even with oil drained and pan still on block. If your gonna pull it off might as well fix it right by getting a new one. Thats what I would do. JB weld might hold for awhile but will leak after working tractor hard for hours after hours.

Pull the pan. Clean it and the oil pump intake. I chose to brase it up from the inside so my lack of skill wouldn't show. I tested with water to make sure it didn't leak. I then primered, sanded, and painted to cover the cracks and burnt paint. Looks good and doesn't leak. I fugured that if I wasn't happy with the results I could go find a used pan.
