conventional soybeans

Does anybody plant conventional soybeans anymore? These are non-round up. What do you use for weed control now days?

Valor pre-emerge (Sonic doesn't work in heavy clay high ogranic soils, but good on lighter soils I hear & perhaps cheaper).

First Rate post for the boradleaves.

There are several good post grass killers, can't say the name of the generic I use, brain blanked out....

Flexstar can clean up some stragler weeds later in the season if something went wrong.

Gangster is a cheaper combo of Valor & First Rate. It is not on the lable to spray only one at a time, it is a pretty good combo pre-emerge product, but putting the Valor pre, and the First Rate post, can be even better.

Don't mix the grass killer & the Felxstar - the labels say you can, but the Flexstar flash-burns the grass, and the slower acting grass killer won't affect them then. The grasses will flash burn, but come back if you tank mix.

There are other combos that folks like, but in my heavy wet high organic high ph soils, I gotta go kinda picky & heavy & multiple trips no matter what I choose.

Spray when the weeds are small, you can't catch up if they get big, the conventional herbicides don't attack a mature weed like RUP does. Spray when the weeds are small.

Liberty Link worked well for me last year, trying more of that this year in addition to the conventionals.
