There is a vice that hooks onto weed eaters and trimmers buy the shaft to hold them while you repair them. Problem is can't find one and neither can anyone else tried ebay too. Any help any one got any? Surprised that all the forestry books don't seem to carry them either . thanks all.

This is probably a very special item, and as you are finding out hard to find. I think If I were you I would take a couple 2x4's about 6 in long drill a one inch hole through both, so when you have them apart each will have half a hole. Then clamp them in a vise with the weed eater shaft in between. Stan

This (and others like it) could be adapted to your weed eaters easily. I put in Lighting Pipe clamps in Google. Use two of them mounted on a 1/2"X 2" strip of steel to make a nice holding system to bolt to a bench, or clamp in a vice. Jim

Any variation of this idea would work and save valuable space in your workshop for more clutter.......... I've got an old cast iron vice that I use and have a stack uf adapters (wood scraps) on the shelf under it.

I got mine from a commercial lawn equipment sales co, they are a dealer, here local, in MD. Their name is Kohler Equipment, Upper Marlboro, MD. The vise I got from them is mountable on a lawnmower, to hold the weedeater securely, while you are mowing. I will look at mine today, to see if there's a name on it.

Quick & dirty, no cost for parts, take approx 15 minutes to make.
Using yur hole saw, drill the proper size hole in a scrap of 2x4. After drilling, saw the wood through, leaving you with 2 pieces of 2x2 with a half-round notch in each. Place around the shaft & clamp gently in vice.
To get really fancy, fasten the 2 pieces with a cheap small hinge at one end.
Then get super high tech , start with a 2x4 approx 12 inches long, drill several holes, each a different size, sand off the rough edges & put on a coat of paint.

Poke here

Dude!!!! you could get a weadeater, vice, and enough wood for a workbench to mount it on with blocks left over for 200 bucks................

Never said it was cheap, no sir! When you do as many as I fool around with, it's cheaper than over clamping in a vise, with a 2X4. Besides, I already wrote mine off, and he wanted the link, so caveat emptor, as always.
