Coolant in engine oil

To check your oil for coolant, get a small amount in a clean dry bottle. Heat up a steel plate on the BBQ or stove. Pour a small amount onto the plate and watch what happens.
Any coolant will bubble up out of the oil, if there is no coolant the oil will just smoke and you will see no bubbles.

Hi Bob,
That's an old timey trick!!
Can remember pulling the old flathead ford dipstick and dribbling suspected oil on hot exhaust manifold....worked then too LOL.

Or put a couple of drops of oil on a hot exhaust manifold. It works about the same, but I usually can find a hot manifold when I am working on engines.
