trailer suspension

I am looking into purchasing a gooseneck flatbed trailer. What are the pros and cons of spring vs. torque tube suspension? Which do you prefer and why?

With springs you get walkers that equal wieght, with torque you must keep the trailer level to not put all weight on one axle. Bill

This has been discussed on here many times. My two cents, Torsion axles ride very smooth on paved roads, but will not hold up to a lot of abuse as far as potholes, ditches and rough terrain, they are more expensive to start with and if anything happens to one there is no repairing it,you have to buy a new one. It all depends on how you are going to use the trailer.

I have 7000lb. rubber tosion axles on my bobcat trailer. Had it since 1994 and never any problems. I even hauled a 12,000lb. JD 355 crawler on it a couple times. It's like having independent suspension on your trailer. There are no shackles, bushings or any other wear parts with torsion axles. The same can't be said for springs. Depending on what capacity of trailer you want, I wouldn't hesitate to use the torsion axles again. Dave
