Hey dave, DONT USE A TRANSFORMER FROM A OIL FUARNANCE!! 10,000 volts. Made an electric fence with one years ago. Zapped a lot of SKUNKS, (WHE WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! LOU.

Someone told me once that you could run a cord (AC) to the fence. Attach one wire to the fence with a light socket in between and the other to the ground rod and the strength of the shock would be determined by the size of bulb you put in the socket. I don't know if they were BSing me or I did it wrong, but don't try that one at home  .......

Fellow tried that stunt to keep a pig in killed the pig.many years ago a fellow tried a radio transformer.A fellow tried to steal some sweet corn on a rainy nite.He died crawling under the fence.Garden owner was fined 1000 bucks.Could have done jail time.Wish you didnt post this stunt, its deadly.

Have multiple problems on both types (Parmak 6v solar and 12v car battery).

Solar;
1) pushbutton on/off switch sticking on a couple.
Can they be replaced with the turn switch?
Can I do it myself?
Can you get them for me?

2) Cannot see through the little window for the meter.
Same questions as above or is there a trade secret?

3) They were "all working fine when parked". Some don't work now. Do the batteries go bad (some are several years old) and not take a charge anymore? Is there a way to bring them back to life (batteries)?

4) I believe you answered this before but I forgot what you said. Is there a simple way to make the 6v solar work with a 12v car battery)

12v car battery model:

1) Have one that just started tripping (like a breaker) when you turn it on. Can unhook it from the fence and turn it on and the needle pegs and goes off etc in time with the normal pulse of the charger.

Not really feasable for me to send them to you, but if you could get me what I need and tell me how to fix them, I expect to pay you for your services.
Like to keep the business side of this private via email.

Thanks,

Dave

I buy push button switchs locally.Save the old rubber boot. The 6 volt uses a push button most of the time. You need 4 hollow brass rivets that hold the case together. As for the meter I save meters with bad movements and use the faces to replace the fogged faces.New meters are 13.50, two types are used and wont interchange. The batteries will go bad on the shelf.I wont stock them. The 12 unit may need a new circuit board at 45 bucks.Early meters have tiny solder terminals later meters have 1/4 spade terminals. Some chargers peg the needle when they are ok.Shipping parts has gotten very expensive.2 circuit boards and 2 transformers just cost me 12 bucks from the factory.Small light box.You will need the hollow brass rivets when you the open the battery models.Setting the new rivets aint easy.

I'll start with the battery on the solars. Not real worried about seeing the meter if I can hear them. Are the switches hard to replace? Can I use a normal toggle switch?
If a circuit board costs 45 bucks, I can get a new charger for 80. My 12volts are within the last 2 years old. Can I replace the rivets with screws?
Also, are the meters hard to replace (plug & play or solder)?
I've been a little abusive. The solars, I usually set on the ground and the 12volts I hang on the corner posts with a piece of baling twine. Figure the worse they look the less likely someone is to steal them. 10 years and not one theft. Put a common German model (one that everyone recognizes) out one year and it lasted about 3 days.

Screws will get in the way on solar models.12v battery unit doesnt matter.Meters are held in by a brass rivet and terminals will melt the meter case if you get them too hot during soldering.toggle switch will work fine.Check parmak usa you should be able to get parts direct.
