Had to let the dog out the back door to do his thing. Couldn't resist popping a couple of pics. The state has cut back on funding for tourism. so I guess I will do my little part to promote rural NYS. The only sky scrapers around here are 80' Blue Angles.

Is that your vertical wind turbine? Is it what they call a Darius or does the darius have curved foils?
 
This VAWT is a Mariah Windspire. The blades are a modified form of a Darius Turbine.Some call it a Giromill. It is not, because the blades on this do have about a 5 degree attack angle rather than none. All Darius foils are what is called a lift foil "airplane wing" as opposed to a "drag foil which is scoop shaped. The Mariah is a Cycloturbine which is self starting and has better torque characteristics.It is a1.2 KW unit that requires 12+ MPH winds to produce reasonable output wattage.
 
Gorgeous sunset on the red barn. Couldn't have caught the light any more perfect. Am in to photography and drool over those type pictures. Timing, timing, and right place right time.
