Earth Day Celebration

A few buddys and I had been planning to do a tractor ride one of these days. Even though we all live within the City and just a couple miles of one another, it's still hard to coordinate lives and time and evenings and all to actually do it. But we managed to get it all together today so that 4 of us had a tractor that ran. Till I ran out of gas and had to get towed to the gas station. Cringe.
But i do know something about old tractors and so had brought a tow strap along.
We were out there for most of an hour and a half. Took the senic route - along the big railroad switching yards for a mile or two, weighed all the tractors on the container scale, trucked along the golf course for a while then detoured up the city streets to the Water Works before turning our noses home. Crossed the buisy highway 4 at a time by McDonalds, through the Harbor Freight parking lot - that's where I ran out of gas, then by the new jail before hitting the parkway again, and a low gear crawl across the grassy industrial plain (watch out for ditches and moguls and shards in your tires) then put them back in the factory where we're fortunate enough to hang out some evenings and weekends.
It was a blast. It was at the parking lot that Mike reminded us that it was Earth Day. And if you'd been there you would probably have shared in our glee to be tooling around on one of these gas or diesel belching machines on such a singular occasion. Meanwhile, It was a rare occasion to have all the tractors in town here at the same time. They'll all be heading for the lake or the woods camp or the summer place soon. Oh, if you want to come next year we'll be glad to add you to the gang - We wont even make you drive a Ford.

Would have been fun to go along on my 5000SOS. Bit of a drive for me though. Hmmm... I see your Brit 4000, 3/4000/3400 hybred (thought you had the engine out of it for dieselizing?), what I think is your 3600, and I dont know the one on the right.
If it would make you feel any better, I ran the 5000 out of gas when I took it for a spin to try out 9th and 10th gears yesterday. Only about 50 yards from the driveway on the way back, though.

I cant imagine having that much time to just throw away on any day. I work and farm and barely have time to eat and sleep. Glad some can enjoy a carefree life on others dime (not really).

welfare/ss/disability checks come in on time this month?

you guys look like real producers.

apparently you know or your knickers wouldnt be bunched up sc*mbag. Is your conscience bothering you? email me if you like you pie*e of trash.

Did you read the 2nd sentence of the original post? And have you NEVER taken time off for some enjoyment/relaxation? I think you are making some seriously erroneous assumptions. By the way... I farm for a living, (48 dairy cows, young stock, 345 crop acres, and occasionally repair tractors to resell) and I DO occasionally take a day or two off.
