I know there is a lot of people on here that live in Texas. I was at Fort Hood for a year after retutning from Vietman in 1970. Lived at Killeen and partyed and fished at Belton lake a bunch. Went to Waco a lot and used to make a Coors beer run to Texoma once in a while. Was wondering if these places have changed a lot or stayed about the same. Would like to travel out there again . Thanks DH

That neck of the woods is probably a lot more crowded now.... I know it is a little farther south.

DH, It is a different world here in Central Texas. Least of which is The Centro-Plex Area! Copperus Cove, Killeen, Harker Heights, Nolanville, and last but not least Belton/Temple.
Ft Hood just had another 40,000 troops brought in. after 4th-I.D. just got reasigned to Fr Carson, Colo. They left Ft. Hood on another tour in the Sand. they will return to their new Home in Colo.
Killeen has doubled to tripled in size, Walmarts, Home Depot, Lowes. and every kind of resturant under the sun, and yet still more used car dealerships. Beer can be bought in the grocery stores too. Same with Belton/Temple. The smaller more rural areas have seen its fair share of growth old ranches broke up into 2 to 10 acre ranchetts and dogs have become a problem to some extent, but in most areas the 3 S are practiced still. Yes this area has grown but what area hasen't? Hope this helps.

I went to school at the University of Texas in Austin in the mid 80's.

Didn't go back until the late 90's and could not believe how many new miles of city had been added to the north AND south sides of Austin proper. Been back a couple more times and it just continues to grow.

I couldn't believe the traffic jams out on north I-35 during a normal afternoon the last time I was down there.
