best I can see the engine mod number looks like
V 165 D I have been told it should be V 465 D

Spec # 337669 and serial # 5733011

engine locked up while working, suspect it dropped a valve.

Looks like a fairly easy rebuildable engine because it seem to have separate "jugs" for cylinders. like an old VW

Has anyone any good parts sources, and or manual information ?

I almost got suckered into a free download manual that after free trial of 7 days that you would be monthly billed .so be careful.
 
Hello- it's funny you should mention a Ditch Witch, I bought an old one last night and am going to try to fix it up. Mine is a C-9 with a Wisconsin motor. The guy said it hasn't run in about 5 years- looks complete not abused or anything. But to help you, I got on their website and found my local dealer and found out I could get the manual and parts book for around 50 bucks he also said that I could get most of the parts. I forgot to ask about a service manual- good luck to you-mike
 
I think they still make them but they are very pricey. Parts should be available too but will probably be pricey as well. Dave
