OT: garage door openers?

My garage door opener isnt working, I may have got water on that little sensor thing that detects if someone or something is the way of the door. Well, Is there a way to jumper out the sensor so that it will work correctly? Any garage door installers here.? Mine is a Genie.

May I suggest you figure out what's wrong before you try to "fix" it? The manual that came with your opener should tell you how to read the flashing fault code.

Not sure if you can "jump" them out, but in our barn (since someone is cheap ans insists on homeowner door openers that it seems like we are constantly fixing, probably cause there's too much door for the opener in our case).. we mounted the "eyes" above the opener itself on the bracketry that holds the opener. Ours never seemed bothered by water (before relocation) but a shadow while the door was closing would reak havock on it.. about the 6th try, we'd just pull he cord and manually shut the door.

take them off if you can, and duck tape them together to see if that is your problem. It is a very good saftey device, ya never think you need them untill something goes wrong.

I still see alot of springs that don't have a saftey wire going through them. I know of four different persons that have had close calls, and one of them was actualy scuffed but not injured by a broken spring.
