heres one of my next upcoming adventures. from all the rain last year, my creek undercut the bank and had some trees go in the water. i hate cutting trees in the water. maybe i can talk kruser into gettin his skinny little carcass in the creek with a chain saw !!! free firewood. (its a hedge apple) then i gotta haul stone in to stop the erosion.

Hey glennster:
Got some concrete cylinders down in Peoria - NEXT time you go to Big Al's. Bring Smili'n John down and I might even help load!
Kinda funny how the spring get's away - kinda need the trailer but still got a couple of tires and rims on it.
Thought about you with the fires, but didn't have time this weekend - Yep volleyball and grass!

at the bend where you see the stone, its about 5-6 ft deep. when it flodds the creek will come over the top of the stone and can be 2-3 foot deep. heres a couple pics of what it looks like when it floods. the first picture of you look at the far left corner by the trees, that is where the stone is on the bank. she really floods.

here is a pic of the road and bridge over the creek. at times there can be 2-3 feet of water over the road.

Check the creek for an obstruction which is steering the water towards that point. I would be inclined to place those trees in the creek to slow down the rush of water. Also makes good habitat for the dwellers.Had that problem once caused by two trees in the creek allowing the debris to bank up and divert the water into the bank. cut one tree down.Look for the cause.

the creek makes 2 90 degree turns, one entering my timber and one exiting the timber stand. this is the first 90 degree.

I'm pretty sure the State of Minnesota would throw me in prison if I dumped rock on my creek banks like that. Looks nice though.

Maybe when it gets a little cooler, might come do some "noodling" in your creek.

Looks like some good spots for catfish.

You and [b:654c4848f0]kruser[/b:654c4848f0] can sit on the bank and watch for <a href="http://s200.photobucket.com/albums/aa5/jameslloydhowell/?action=view¤t=watermocassin.jpg" target="_blank">

</a> water moccasins.

Hey glennster:
Got to thinkin about your tree cutting. Ever watch Ax Man on History Channel - Sunday nights?
One guy is down in Louisiana and tryin to save his barge - goes into and out of the water with big bar Stihl! Transportation prolly be a hit but bet you don't pay prevailing wage.

You've got to kiddin! Some places in Illinois are "paid" to stabilize banks by NRCS and other local or state agencies. (Well, used to be!)

I have a little flat bottom aluminum boat that I use for cutting trees that fall into the river as is passes through my property. If you don't cut them out of the river come spring thaw the ice and tree's collect at my bridge and create major flooding issues.
