OT. Honda engine

I have a chance to buy an 18 HP v twin honda engine. He said it was running fine but lost spark. Seems to have good compression but I"m not very familiar with these. How much is worst case senario to fix it. I know the coils are around $40 each but dont knwo about diodes or what kind of pickup it uses or does it have a computerized control box.

nope...all self contained ignition like a Briggs unless its one of the real late engines with fuel injection.

If it has a "low oil" kill switch, check /top up the oil level and / or disconnect the switch and see if it has spark. Those low oil switches do fail.

Also there is a diode that if it goes out it quits running on 1 cylinder.
