Tractor House.com prices ? ? ? ?

Ok, is it just me or what? From time to time I check in at Tractor House.com to see what's for sale and most of the time (not all) I see these prices that are just crazy for some of these tractors. Maybe it's just me but I would think there is no way they are selling these tractors for those high prices.

Most of those prices are dealers who offer financing. Alot of people can"t stroke a check for $20-40,000+, but can come up with a minimum down paymment and finance the rest. Used to be the housing crisis, soon going to be the tractor/machinery crisis.

Just about every tractor I see in there is 2 to 3 times what I'd pay in a private sale. The AuctionTime listings are even worse.

You can ask whatever you want, but if you're serious about selling, you'll take what you can get.

Most folks try to make a little money jockey'n iron. Most of them prices are what you would call asking or dreaming price. Most jockeys will buy a tractor at auction and up the add price 25 to 50% in the adds hope'n to make 10 to 25% profit.

You are absolutely right. No one in his right mind would pay their asking prices. I happen to think they probably scare off more business than they attract. Oh well, it their junk. .....

Mike...Realize that book caters to strong dealers that can at least hold on and try to get premium prices. In order to pay for those adds you have to get good prices. IF you can get your hands on a book called IRON SOLUTIONS it is what dealers use to floor plan used equipment. In that book you will find prices listed in several ways. Advertised price, auction price, actual retail sales price. These figures are compiled from reported dealre sales as well as reported auction prices..Right now GOOD used is still bringing pretty good money. May not be as much diffrence as you think in prices. My guess is you are just a better shopper thank maybe the averag joe. Also you cannot begin to think about how much diffrence 500 miles or location can make in what a unit will command..
