JD 6410 w/cab

The tach and the hour meter work when it is first started but when the rpm's are run up a little they quit and the three warning lights start to flash. There are no other lights lit up then tho. When the key is turned to the on position without the motor running all the lights in the top row come on like they are suppose to and the three warning lights flash then like they should. The tractor performs just fine when the warning lights flash. It has me stumped.Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have an answer. I kinda have the same kind of problem...JD 250 series 2 skid steer, the windsheild wiper motor stopped working. I bought a new one, put the new one in, 2 bolts and 1 plug connection. The hour meter magically went from 650 hours to I guess zero hours. My son ran it moving snow then I got in the thing I noticed it had 48 hours on the meter...I called the dealer, he said he never heard anything like it, said you can't reset those meters, even if you put a new meter in you can't set it to the amount of hours the old hour meter had on it...I don't know...

Sure makes me wish I had one of these new fangled tractors with all the electronic gadgets on it! My Series 3 White is bad enough wracking up hours when I use the engine preheater.

ive seen somthing similiar where the tach quits working and the lights flash. one was the engine speed sensor and one was a loose connection between the bcu and bif controllers. pull codes and see what you have. if you have bif 23 stored then it is probably the speed sensor or it is circuit 341 between the bcu and bif

the engine speed sensor is the most likley fault. Unplug it from the harness connect a voltmeter to the sensor and run the tractor. Note;the sender generates an AC voltage so be sure the meter is set to AC. Readings should range from about 2V at idle and ramp up steadily with increasing engine speed to about 5V...these readings are approximate as I don't have a manual here at home. Hope this helps.
