Sharpen plow coulters?

I'm putting the finishing touches on an Oliver 100 Plowmaster 2 bottom Raydex plow that I cleaned up and painted and wanted to know if I should take my die grinder and sharpen the edge on the 2 coulters? Would it help cut the sod. The lot I'm gonna plow hasnt been worked in 10-15 years and has a lot of grass/ weeds built up. It broke my sickle mower last year trying to mow it.
Thanks
Ryan
PS
I'll get some pictures of it on here as soon as I get the coulters and a few minors things back on it.

Wanted to add 1 other thing. I sprayed it with Oliver implement enamel but it looks almost the same as JD green. Maybe its cause I'm 1/2 color blind but it looks close to the same. Is JD green lighter or darker green or real close to the same???

Deere green is several shades lighter than Oliver green. The coulters will sharpen themselves as they wear.

I agree with those below, if sharp, they will be easily chipped and or bent on the edge. They are not going to need grinding unless you are cutting twinkies or a layer cake. Jim

A couple friends do the plow days thing w/garden tractors and the 10" Brinley & Hardy plows. They almost have to use coulters if there's any crop residue on the fields. They sharpen the coulters so those light weight plows don't ride up out of the ground.

But, most all the plows I've ever seen for bigger tractors have enough built in heft, along with enough "suck" from the shape of the plow to draw into the ground without needing to grind a razor edge on the coulters.

I believe in sharp tools. That goes for coulters as well---especially in sod. Otherwise what you're doing is ripping the sod apart. Under normal conditions, coulters will sharpen themselves. Mine is adjusted to reach the plow share---or hub deep.

You dont want a razor edge on colters or rotary mower blades.A fine edge wont stand up.The edge should be sharp but not weak.45 degrees is good.
