which auction should i go to?

I am looking to get a new (used) riding lawnmower for around the house - need something a little bigger, maybe newer, as our yard has been getting bigger-
there are two auctions nearby (upstate ny) this saturday - one is a lawn and garden/small equip auction that promises 125+mowers...many very new mowers...this auction is very well advertised and has been for a while
the other is a local farm estate auction - there are three riding mowers, all of which would fit my needs, among a lot of bigger equip...not too well advertised

do you think i would find a better deal at the bigger auction that is devoted to lawnmowers and small equip or the smaller farm sale...

at the one there is a lot of equip. but the entire crowd will be there for lawn equip...at the other, there might be no one interested in lawnmowers...but i might be less likely to get something as there are only 3.

which would you go to?

Well if you want to know which one, i take it there at the same time. I think i would go to the smaller farm estate auction. Bein an estate auction, its possible the mowers were treated better and may get a better deal because like you said, less advertised. Besides, a farm estate auction may have more variety and find somethin else ya like even more. Just my opinion, let us know how you make out, Toby.

Im going to the farm auction for the rake and headlock, so I wont bid against you on the lawn mowers!lol I would think you would have better chances at the lawn auction. Let me know your price range and what your looking for used, I may be able to help. J

In my opinion those big dealer/consignment auctions are just a place for them to get rid of their cr@p. Although anyone can rip you off, why does a dealer need an auction to sell his stuff unless there is something wrong with it.

go to the big auction. The first stuff will go high but prices will drop. At the little auction, everything will go at a premium or family members may fight over it & run it up.

go look at the small auction., set your price, and keep in comunication with Jay., if he doesnt mind They will probably have only one auctioneer at the small sale so it should work out pretty good if he handles it there and you go to the big sale.
