I want to express my thanks to all the truck drivers out there who have gone out of their way to keep the roads safe. My wife was traveling yesterday in our minivan when she ran over something that was tumbling across the roadway. Within a short period of time a semi driver went by flagging her down and stopped on the shoulder ahead of her. He came running back and had her shut down the engine, the object had torn the gas tank and was dumping fuel all over the road. At that time, another trucker stopped and let her know that the object had a bolt protruding from it which had probably done the damage. She called me to tow it home and the truckers went on their way when they knew all was well. I thought about the stress and time constraints truckers are under nowadays and how pulling a rig over to help someone out is not as easy as it sounds, this was on a turnpike with vehicles traveling over 70 mph. I am very thankful that truck drivers do what they do and have the heart to show compassion for even the smaller vehicles who at times don't show them the same courtesies. They are truly professionals when it comes to keeping the roads safe.
