i have a john deere 2010 diesel and was wondering if any body knows if this tractor can be changed to gas by changing the head and replacing the injector pump with a distributer ?

The bellhousing pattern is the same as the 2-53 Detroit Diesel used in the 435 and 440.
The cheapest and most satisfactory solution would be the sell the turkey.

Any time you do a convertion, you talk MONEY,lotsof it.the engine may bolt up,but you will change just about everything else.I've been involved(helped)in a number of convertions, they were always more involved than anticipated.

Messy come to mind, but if you are really going to do it double the $$$ you think it will take to completion. Kind da of like changing the older Chev car from diesel to gas comes to mind. Interest to learn the out come if and when you go for it?

why would you want to switch??

The easiest thing would be to see if JD makes a Nat gas version for stationary engine stations and swap parts or even the whole motor. Either way, big $$.

Anything can be done with enough $$ and time (time is $)

2010 diesel is a bigger engine that the rest of the entire 1010/2010 series, except 1010 diesel and 2010 gas are exactly the same sizes.

1010 and 2010 use many identical parts and all have the same bolt-patterns. But . . .

1010 gas is 115 cubic inches 3.5" X 3"
1010 diesel is 144 cubic inches 3.62" X 3.5"
2010 gas is 144 cubic inches 3.62" X 3.5"
2010 diesel is 165 cubic inches 3.87" X 3.5"

Even if you found a 144 gas engine to rob all the parts to swap, why bother?

Just find a complete gas engine from a 2010 or a Deere combine engine or power unit and it will bolt right in. I've see many good combine engines sell for $200 -$400. They are commonly used to replace engines in 1010s and 2010s.

More like converting the Chevy/Olds 350 diesel engines to gas. The 350 Olds diesels are sought after for conversion to gas engines for racing purposes. Supposed to make a very strong gas engine due to the beefed up diesel block.

I can't tell you a thing about your JD. But I'm in the process of converting a 3 cyl Ford from gas to diesel. What I've learned is the conversion requires more than just changing pistons, head and fuel delivery system.
This one will require different intake manifold, air filter, starter and ring gear, battery box, some sheet metal parts (left hood), a couple of brackets and several other things.
If your JD is similar consider all those "extras" before you make the conversion.

1010,2010s,HB-145 power unit, HA-45 combine engines all fit. So does the HA-155D sleeveless combine engine.

Also the two-cylinder gas engines used in 420s, 430s, 440s, etc. use the same bolt pattern. In fact, the two-cylinder 420 engine at 113 c.i. is almost exactly the same size as the 1010 four-cylinder engine at 115 c.i. 420 has two big pistons, whereas the 1010 has four little ones.

The Detroit diesel two-stroke-cycle only fits because Deere made a special adapter-plate, kind of like Ford did to fit IH diesel V8s into their pickups. My point being a Jimmy will NOT fit without a special adapter.
