I have 2 ford 871 (select o speed) and 1 I bought with no power steering pump and the other was all there but not working the 2nd mentioned I just added fluid to it and ran for a few seconds and the resevor was empty when I re-filled it, fluid began coming out at the top of the steering gear at the center of the steering wheel. Just wondering if anyone knows if this is a easy fix, dificult fix or not fixable any help would be great also if anyone knows where I could get a complete power steering set up reasonably I have a 641 I would like to add power steering to.

Just about anything is repairable, Andy.

As a minimum, you will need to reseal the control valve.

The going rate for a complete used factory power steering system for 6/8xx series and four cylinder x000 Fords is around $1000. Many have worn out pumps.

New aftermarket systems are available for around $1500.

proably needs the seal replaced at the bottom of the shaft if it is like any other Ford.

The steering isn't very hard to work on, you just have to be sure to pay attention how things come apart and get them back together correctly. The valve needs to go back on the same way it came off, be careful not to turn it upside down. You may have to build up the steering shaft where the seals wear on it. I did my first one not too long ago and it wasn't very hard, just took my time. So far, no leaks and it works like a champ.

You are correct. Common problem on the smaller Fords. Not just the Hundreds but also the Thousand series. They didn't change much there.
$12 seal from the dealer or about $4 on Ebay. Half a day though to pull all the tin off and fix a simple seal.

Dog,
I tried to buy a seal from the dealer for my 4000 and they told me it was no longer available.Do you have the part #.?
