I posed some time ago about Chuck, and got no replys. I wonder from time to time whats up with him.

I wondered if he had passed, he had some health issues years ago. I also wonder where he is located etc.

His second wife was from NE Iowa, but I simply can't recal her folks name. I have had computer crashes to wipe out my data etc.

I don't want to expose him if he is keeping a low profile, but he was such a nice guy, and so easy to visit with.

Any help would be appreciated.

His works are among the best! I started collecting several volumes of his works in the 90's.

Seems to have fallen off the face of the earth. I dont know of anything published after about mid 80's by him! Last I knew of he was in Atkins, IA.

Reading Your message made me realize it was 25 years ago today that Allis sold to Deutz! & C.H. Wendel was at Allis headquarters researching for his book when a telegraph operator rushed in to tell the news!

I just did phone search, and found a number for him, but that doesn't mean anything. In my home town, of 700, with my last name, there are six mistakes and there are only two of us that live here.

My dad died in 1996, son moved out ten years ago, and my sister moved away probably in 1980, and passed away 1997, So like I said that phone means nothing definate.

I also have a few of his books. Don't know a lot about him, but he put together some informative tractor books.

I have several of his books including "Nebraska Tractor Tests Since 1920". It's OK but I prefer going to the actual data sheets published by the tractor Test Lab. Lots of reasons, uniformity, more info and all in the same order. C H included data on some tractors that he never mentioned on others. Maybe he was trying to add some variety to the reading. He included some interesting pictures but he got most of them from the lab and a few from advertising materials.

I asked a friend of mine from the Amanas about Charlie, and he thinks (but not sure) that Charlie died. Hope it's only a rumor.
