O.T.----Weed-B-Gone FAILURE!!!

I mixed up about 40 gallon of weed-b-gone at 2.5 oz. per gallon of water and added about four ounces of dishwashing liquid. Sprayed the entire yard with temperature in the 60s and no rainfall for four days after spraying. Adjusted spray for droplets instead of fine mist just like instructions said.
I have used this product for many years and always got excellent results.
It has been nine days and I have No kill whatsoever, not even the clover!
Do I need to wait longer or respray with a different product. I want to kill everything but grass and I have a lot of crabgrass, ground ivy, clover, etc.--just about any weed that gives trouble in a yard.
I called the company and of course they had no explaination but to give it more time or spray again.
What will work?

I use a product called Forefront. Kills everything but grass. Maybe the weeds are still dormant. Wait a little longer and respray.

60F isn't realy warm enough for good results. I think the active ingredient in WBG is 2-4D which will not kill crab grass. Are you located South of the equator because crab grass is not active in Texas yet. Pre-emerge is by far safer and more effective for annuals broad leaf and grassy both. For grassy type plants MSMA and DSMA are about as effective as I know of and it does fairly good job on broad leaf. I would give it another week and if the clover which is very suseptial to 2-4D isn't fading, you will have to retreat.

I would say the temps at the time of spraying are the issue. Give it another week and see if you see anything. I sprayed roundup earlier this year with temps near yours and it was almost two weeks before I could tell anything was happening.
Are the weeds still activly growing,or have you noticed they have slowed down in growth but no kill yet? If so, I would say it took but just needs more time.

I hired my lawn chemicals out, until the price he quoted me turned out to not be close to actual. Anyway, the main reason I hired him was because of the clover. He says clover is a sign of a lack of nitrogen. Nitrogen needs to be applied in the fall. Greg

Only way to tell what fertilizer is needed is a soil test. My grandson has a professional lawn care business. He will not apply fertilzer with out a soil test. In our area right now is the time to apply nitrogen. He uses a foliar feed so it does not run off.

Where are you located. We are always told that Nitrogen is to applied to lawns this time of year for early growth. Applied in fal as grass goes dorminat would just be a waste..SAME WITH FESCUE PASTURES AG SERVICE RECOMENDS nitrogen in early spring..Who or how did you come up with the apply in fall...We may be missing something.

Good morning;I use 24-D and will kill every thing but grass: All so if your weed killer froze over the winter I have noticed that it has no strenth, and it will be no good.JR.FRYE

Chemical could have settled out.Put a stick in the bottom of the container, push down and twist the stick. You will feel the salt being ground up if it has salted out.If so, put it in the back of your truck and haul it around for a few days. The salt with warmth and agitation will disolve back into the carrier.

THANKS for all the replies-----I live in N.W. Alabama. The weeds are actively growing and they are larger then B4 spray. The Chemical was purchased last fall and was stored in my home. I always completely stir and make sure they have not setteled.
The yard is covered with the purple blooms on the ground ivy, and that is my greatest concern. This is a newely purchased home, but the conditions were the same last year at my other home and I got very good results.
I think I will waite another two weeks and see what happens.

(quoted from post at 20:27:45 03/28/10) I was thinking WBG said to spray at 70 and up?
Yes--you are correct. I stated that the temperature was in the 60s. It was about 68 when I started and about 74 or 75 degrees when I finished.
Maby I should have sprayed later in the day.

I used to work at Chemlawn (over 20 year ago!) but we used 2-4D at the time. Weeds go thru a growing cycle like averything else. If they are mature weeds try and mow them down and then water a day later and then hit the weeds with another aplication after the water is dried. Usualy a day. This will yield very good results as long as the chemical is still good. If the ground is moist, you can skip the additional water and reapply a day or so later. You want the weed to be actively growing when you hit it. If it has flowers or seed heads its a good sign it has slowed down and will need mowing. BTW, the earlier statements regarding grassy weeds are correct. If you do not use preemergent then MSMA is about your onlychoice to kill them out when it warms up. If you do not want crabgrass in your bermuda this year, apply pendamethilin (pre-M) now. Home depot has it for those of you that are interested it is made by Lesco and looks like sulphur when it is applied. It works well. good luck

It wasn't a pre-mixed ready to use product was it? I believe Weed-B-Gone sells a ready to use product in a gallon jug.

Buy a quart of Amine400 (at most home centers around here) mix it with your 40 gallons of water and you have enough to spray 2 acres.
