Who has hazelnut trees in your area???

Is the wood comparable to hickory as far as being tuff enough for handles and pitman arms (sickle mowers)? How about for smoking? Real common here and I've cut sticks and used them for rake and broom handles and walking sticks just cause they are so straight. Never gave much thought to or tried them for anything else....

Probably consider these bushes too. Seldom find anything bigger than a couple inches unless it has been kept cut back.

Hello dave2,
I made hadles from the wood. One i just found this morning, it still has the bark.
I needed a handle for a file.
Its light wood when dry, but it worked for me.
