OT Eagles everywhere. Pics

There is a little lake on my way home that must have froze out this year, the last few days it has been covered with eagles, trupeter swans and geese. Last night I counted 9 adults and 3 juvenile eagles on the lake at once, but there were a bunch of them flying around also. We see eagles all the time so I usually don't give them much thought but thought this was cool. I will throw in a Case picture so it can be tractor and eagle related also! LOL

Hi cj in Wi: Great pictures and very much related to the Case tractors since the company logo is an Eagle.. "Ole Abe" was the name of the eagle mascot that inspired Case to use an eagle? Great pictures.. Thanks. ag

You can see them on I-5 south of Albany to Eugene Oregon now quite often, I grew up in Wis and never saw one , they are pretty cool

We saw one last week at our farm in e. Tx. I took some pics, but James hasn"t downloaded them yet.

Neither of us had ever seen one in the wild before.

It was really cool.

They are as thick and as obnoxious as pigeons in Alaska after being hand fed fish scraps everyday. Does that sound familiar or what? Anyway they are beautiful birds for sure. We have some along the rivers in Western Ky.

For goodness don't tell anyone where they are. They will hound the heck out of them...and you too.
Told a friend about two Golden Hawks on my place...had people all over the place over night.

They are all over around here, we see them year round. But we also have a large number of lakes and nesting trees around here. Not really the greatest ag area but good for wildlife and tourists.

I watched a Golden Hawk swoop down on a pigeon and carry it up to a tree limb and then literally rip it apart. I told one of the girls I work with about it and she started to cry. Pretty funny.

Nancy, I hate to be the one to break this to you, but they eat roadkill. Pretty disgusting. Our national bird. Our symbol. Eating roadkill. (;>))

Last sunday I drove acrosse the dike between La Crosse Wi. and La Crescent Mn. and the side of the road was lined with cars and there were about 15 eagles on the ice and in the trees, and about 50 people taking pictures.

Its unreal how many eagles are over there. They are all over when I have been ice fishing on Upper Clam. They stand on the ice waiting for a handout or for you to leave so they can get any left over minnows.

I think the correct term for that is "opportunists". Why hunt and make a kill when we do that for them?

Oh, by the way, that"s also providing valuable environmental clean up.

absolutely beautiful birds we have seen one or two here but not like that I guess they don't like grass seed and Christmas trees.
Walt

PS what's wrong with road kill.

Yesterday morning there were about 50 eagles there on the pike. Today the ice is gone, so most of them are gone.

We have a few eagle nests around Manitowoc including one atop our locally famous Budweiser tower. They are a rare sight this far down so it's really a treat when you see one soaring. Trumpeter swans by the hundreds though.

Good sighting,
Bill

Yes, but the vultures did that all the while the eagles were "gone". I think vultures are better equipped for that. With all the lakes and rivers around, I would think.....oh, never mind. I just realized how boring a steady diet of fish can get. We've been eating fish since January. Anything put in the frying pan this time of year tastes like fish. (;>))

We'er seeing them in upstate NY again too. I hope WE don"t end up eating roadkill because our goverment has sold our haritage to China!!!

PS great pics. including the spirit.

Here try this site. it is about 2 minutes of really no action but you can see the majestic birds on
a live web cam eastern time it is set up all summer in new jersey.

Feeding time is the best to watch feeding youngins , but can be very graphic. last year dad brought a small fawn in and he and mom fed it the fawn would have fit in most mens hands

See several heer on the Lake in Mid Tn. This farm is suronded on three sides by Federal Wildlife refuge. Don,t know why but when they identify an eagle nesting area they restrict entery ect. Makes farming a mess when you can,t go where you need to..Farming federal land is about a thing of the past. Been doing it for 20 + years and it gets worse ever year.
