Cylinder Head Gasket

1930 McCormick-Deering 22-36
Just got my head back from the machine shop.
Ready to install.
Head gasket question:
Got the gasket from Fordson House.
One surface has the printing, "Thermoseal Klingersil C-4408 and is the slightly grayer, slightly smoother, slightly shinier surface.
The other surface has no writing on it.
Is there a preference for which surface goes to the block?

It should only fit one way.

There should only be one way it will fit... Compare it's shape to the old one to see which way it fits or look very closely at the ports and bolt holes to match it up correctly. Do this VERY carefully.

Hoss...doing pretty well.
I just placed the head today.
Going to hook up the other stuff later this week.
Then, I'll try to start her up.
