if he'd only bought fuel

I lent my backhoe to my brother-in-law an his freind Becuase his friend had an acer or so cut an they wanted to dig the stumps up It was fine with me but I told them NOT to run it out of fuel Because we all no what a pain it is to prime a desiel Well you guest it Somebody didn"t watch the fuel gauge an they thought poor some in an go Well they crank it so much it melted the soleniod on the starter My uncle went up there but didn't get in running but I dout he try Think he went to laugh at them An I had to hear they ran it out from dad nobody call me When it stops rain somebodys gettin a good azz chewing

Yup never loan your equipment out, hate be like that but people just don't respect it like you do then you have to dish out the finances to fix it.

no one borrows my stuff i don't care who it is, if they need something done I will go and do it for them.

Yes, it is much cheaper to just donate an hour of my time and go do the job for free, rather than having to spend a bunch fixing what THEY broke..

I used to be neiborly.now,it doesnt leave the yard unless its behind my tractor....and I'm driveing.

Just hope they didn't drown it with starting fluid to try get it going like a so called mechanic did to a guy on the MF forum. He now has a few thousand dollar bill to have his engine rebuilt. Dave

You ask for it, and you got it. So dont loan your stuff out. It may have serious internal damage when and if you get if running. They may have used too much starting fluid, may have run it out of oil, no telling. My uncle told me on time that if you loan a relative or neighbor a twenty dollar bill and they never pay you, it was worth it, just to be rid of them. Tom

Exactly. Particularly track equipment because nobody's around when the bill comes to repair them.

A neighbor taught me years ago that once you can afford to have 95% of those items that you figure you could ever want to borrow that you should condemn the whole practice of borrowing and lending. Myself, I will loan judiciously. Depending on a the situation I may loan or go and do it myself for very little, or say no outright. I did borrow an excavator from a friend for a week a few years ago but he borrows from me too. It tends to work out if you use common sense.

I hate loaning stuf. I loaned my power washer last year, when i got it back 2 weeks later it doesn't seam to have the power it used to.

Now that I am getting older I loan out very
little equipment. The legal liability whether
physical or personal injury concerns me. Just
read your insurance policy.

I loan some things to my son-in-law but would never loan my tractor to him. He grew up in the city and lives in town so shouldn't have much need anyway.

I will loan many things to my next door neighbor but we have worked together on projects since 1982 so we know each other well.

Those are the only two I loan items to.

I can count the number of people I would loan something to on one hand, and that's because there's a mutual back-and-forth understanding, there.

Also, priming a diesel does suck.

I don't loan anything, if someone needs it they get me to operate it. If I break it it's my problem, and besides I get a few beers when the job is done!
