there is a 1953 IH grain truck in my area that i'm interested in, but i don't know the model number of it. it's the kind with the real tall and snub nosed- looking cab. can anyone tell me what model number i can look up for this truck? thanks!

Kind of sounds like an L or R 190 cabover .Look in the book '150 Years of International Harvester' by C.H.Wendell. there is aHuge truck section.

Does it look like this one,R or L190 Coe IHC about 1950 year model.

ACTUALLY, the one in this photo is an LC-160 or LC-180...based upon the hood emblem with the "Triple Diamond" logo, instead of having the block "IH" logo. Also, since the L-series only used the hidden door hinges in 1950, the exposed hinges shows this truck to be a '51 or a '52.
And the RC-series had fewer vertical "grille" bars in the front of the hood. Going by the Budd wheels, rather than Daytons, on the specimen in the photo, I'd just about bet it was an LC-160 rather than an LC-180.

I love the old L-series trucks, and own two L-110 1/2-ton pickups. I'd dearly LOVE to own an LC-160 "snubnose," as they called them back in the day.
