I found a castle nut on the ground from my 8N tractor. It is 1 inch inside dia. and would take a 1 1/2 wrench to fit it. I can not find where it came from and have asked some local tractor mechanics but no one seems to know where it goes.

Thanks,

Richard

Usta know a fellow who bought a new pickup every year or two; when he knew they'd be together, his best friend would put a 2 or 3 sheet metal screws in his pocket and when he got the chance, would put 'em in the floorboard under the steering wheel. Drove the new truck owner nuts thinking his dash was falling apart. You got a friend with a sense of humor?

Searching on the NH parts site, I see a 3/4" holding on the 3pt lift arms, a quick search showed a couple smaller ones in the front end.

I'm not helping any.....

Sounds like back when my brother was service manager for the local Oldsmobile dealer. Somebody who had just had some service done on his car came back in with a screw in his hand. Said he found it on the floor and wanted to know where it was supposed to be. My brother looked at it,then threw it over in the corner and said "what screw?".

lookat your pickup or car might off the pinion on the differntial or off a implement like a bush hog holding the blades on go hunting old art

Used to work at a room air conditioner factory. Was on final inspection, before covers were put on. Had a magnet attached to my pencil, and went home with a handful of loose screws almost daily.

My brother-in-law slides an oil-stained piece of cardboard under his buddy's Harley every chance he gets. ;-)

I have an 8n,i cannot tthink of a nut that big anywhere on this tractor.did it come from an implement/?

Thanks for the reply. The nut had paint same as the tractor from where the previous owner had it painted. It just had one side with paint as if it was in a not very accessible place on the tractor. Maybe someone had just left it in previous maintenance at a shop.

Thanks again,

RJ
