The other day we had 2 bull calves born within a day. One was normal size, the other was a MONSTER!!!

Snapped a few pictures.

This is the bigun-

Here they are side by side. The black one was probably a good 4" taller, and quite a bit longer and very thick. Was understandably a little wobbly on his feet yet.

Grandpa would've kept that big guy as a bull - He loved the big black ones.

Mom said he was the biggest calf she had ever seen. We've had tall, we've had thick, and we've had long. We've just never had tall, long, and thick all in one like this guy.... He's the 6th bull calf we've gotten in the last few months or so. Gonna have a few beefers I guess.

Looks like a nice one. I've had 12 calves so far this year - the first 10 were bulls. Dad takes most of them, but that was too many, too fast. I sent 3 to the sale barn in the last two weeks, when they were 8 to 11 days old. The biggest was 120 pounds, brought $50 ($32 and change after deductions) The other two were 105 pounds each, and brought $70 and $95. No telling how they're gonna pay...

Hasn't been a bull on our farm in many, many moons. We've been using AI for well over 25 years. Been going with Northstar Select Sires for the last 15 or so.

The breeder that comes to our farm has been pretty good at getting them stuck the 1st time.
