allis chalmers G not starting

replaced battery and it starts with a charger on it but won't start on it's own. gets some juice but not enough to turn the engine over. could the generator be faulty? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

1950's model

could be bad starter,loose/corroded cables, cables too small,or you got a bad NEW battery.

Six volt batteries don't exactly fly off the shelf most places. They all lose some charge just sitting. Was it fully charged when you bought it?

First off welcome to the forums. I hope that you will enjoy all of them and feel free to use them.

With tongue in cheek----the tractor is completely shot/worn out and it should be completely scrapped. Send your address and I'll come haul it off for you. In other words, I sure would like to have one.

Again, welcome.

take the starter off take it apart and clean the armeture check the brushes and clean the flange that mounts it to the engine and also where the flange contacts the engine get all the paint off both surfaces and all wire connections lot of poor connections robe the voltage to start.
try it you will like it oldart

thanks for the feedback. i replaced the battery cables and the problem persisted and now it won"t turn over, nothing, even with the helpstarter. got the starter tested and it"s fine. could it be the ignition or just a bad wire? or the generator?
