Not too many years ago,few people had internet access or cell phones, etc. Now nearly everyone has one or both. How many people do you know who has only one or neither? Know one couple who only has cell phone, no internet.

my 84 year old mother never has had either, she and dad didnt like "new fangled contraptions" still has a tube type am/fm radio in a council that still works, and didnt get their first color tv untill the old b/w zenith just couldnt be fixed any more, in the mid 1980's, growing up in that enviroment, any free time [ free time was rare as there were chores assigned to us that had to be done], we went fishing, hunting, target shooting, ect, these days nobody under 20 seems to do anything like that

No cell for me. Somebody commented the other day to me I need to get one so people can get ahold of me to fix their car. Told if they needed me that bad, they can come for a visit.

Sooo. . . How they gonna come visit if their car is busted? LOL

My stepmom decided about 10 years ago that she wanted email so she could communicate with her kids, who are spread around the US. Computer geek grandson set it up. Had only dialup, so naturally, it was slow. He absolutely could not convince her to quit randomly clicking stuff while waiting for screens to change, thereby locking it up. He finally gave up, and that ended the project.

I've been a cell phone user since the mid 80's when they were a novelty for the most part. Just like a wife....Great to have around if you don't let 'em irritate you.

I joined the WWW in early 90's and would be lost without the information super highway.

My oldest friend still hasn't embraced either technology. Then again, he still watches a black & white TV.

I know one guy who has neither, then comes and bugs me wanting to use my phone or internet. Funny thing is he says its all a goverment conspiracy.

I have some older neighbor's that don't do anything on the web. And a couple who won't use a cell phone. This is a very conservative area, these folks don't change.

Hey there;
Daughter recently had a new roof put on our
old house, (we just didn't have the money).
She hired an "Ahmish" contractor to do the
job, he kept his cell-phone, in the "shed"
(out-house), their religion doesn't allow
them to keep a phone in their home .?

I have had both for many years, would not want to be without either. When it is -40 and you are broke down on the side of the road a cell phone suddenly becomes a good gizmo to have (so does Onstar for that matter). So if I had to without one, I'd do without the internet (even though I use it much more often).

Although I do have a cell, I'm not one of those who has it on me all the time. And I don't Facebook, Twitter or MySpace. Everybody in the world doesn't need to know every single thing I do everyday.

When I retired I turned in my 24/7 cell and do not want one even after 7 years. As you see I am on the net. The only one I want to talk to is usually setting in the seat next to me.

Like my Daddy would say know the difference between need and want! He was a radio man for 70 years and did not have a cell, but had latest Ham radio equipment. In the day he built his own tube type ham radios from the tin frame up and used them.

No cell, glad to see there are others out there. People at work act like I'm the last man on earth without a cell. Mostly because they want to be able to call me 24/7 about work problems.

From what I have been told, this year is 2010.

I carry two cell phones, each has a different carrier, have high speed internet at home, use both cable TV and satellite TV. When those are boring, I use Internet TV. I have Internet access on both phones.

This is the generation for mass communication and information exchange.

And I have lots of time for my 30+ tractors.

Two cell phones, two different carriers. Nation wide coverage is ok. Local coverage on the other is fair as long as you are on a hill. Internet connection is mostly good, but runs $80 a month. They are the only provider.
Know lots of people that don't use the internet.

I don't have a cell phone. Wife says I should get one so if I have trouble in the field I could call for help. Trouble is I don't know anyone to call.

Sounds funny, but I don't have the internet at home. I use it here at work, and use free wireless when I can find it other times.

Face book was brought up. Interesting twist now when applying for a job the employer can look on face book and etc to see what you have posted. Been showing off that tatoo that no one can see unless you show them???

Cell phone in pocket is for mostly emergency use- powered off to save batteries, has proven convienient on road which is what I got it for. Internet was at work- don"t have a PC at home, library is close enough for personal use. No TV usage now after they broadcasters went digital, figured not worth the cost or aggravation for cable or satelite. RN

Hello charles,
How much is too much? I think i'm poor enough for a free cell phone.
