Where can I find the type of auto transmission my 96 3500 Dodge has in it. Is there a tag somewhere on the trans? Maybe someone knows? Stan |

| Actually the RE automatics didn't come out til 98. They are the electronically governed models. The hydraulically governed automatics were designated RH. |

| If it has a cummins, I think it is a NV 4500. I can look in my book at work tomorrow to be sure, but that is what I remember from my dealership days. |

| An automatic trans would be an A518. Another name for it would be a 46RE. If it's a diesel truck it would be an A618/47RE. A slightly heavier duty version than the gas one. |
