I like them. I watch for broken ones at yard sales and take them to sears and get new ones for them.

Bought a new set of Craftsman and it only goes up to 3/4 even in the 1/2 in set. The plastic lever broke right away on the 1/2 in ratchet not really impressed with the case either the darn tools wind up in a big pile in the bottom if you pick it up by the handle. Other than they are pretty good tools.
My favorite Ratchet in my Husky you can't get any better than that. small head, small close clicks as you ratchet it and tough as nails.
Don't like Snap-on they are too smooth and your hands slip on them when oil and I work in lots of oily places with hydraulics Best wrenches I own own are the old black line Proto tough and not shiny so people don't pick them up.

Was playing around on google the other day and found a 136 piece craftsmen general mechanic's tool set that they sell to the Military for 2000 bucks..Times may have changed, but the Military used to buy tools at a lower price without the warrenty............

OTH, I have SK and craftsmen, even some snapon that I accumulated over the years. Also have CRS and what my wife calls messy syndrom.

Needed some wrenches and bought a set of 48 SAE&metric with several different designs for 25 bucks with a lifetime warrenty at a chopstick store. Neighbor needed a big wrench for something on a plow, ne's also got CRS when borrowing tools and would tear up a sledge hammer so I gave him one from the cheap set. He put a pipe over the end and ended up breaking off the bolt and the wrench is still fine.......

Just turned in steel handle craftsman hammer about 60 some years old with very small amount of face damage for a new one. Made by Vaughn in Bushnell,il area. Retail was 25 bucks. Good estate sales find. Seen very few craftsman hand tools worn out.

some of the 'lower' end craftsman tools are made in china, however they are still have a life time warranty on them. The 'high' end line are still made here. Just bought a 'pro' ratchet the other day, u.s.a on them. Still the best tools for the money in my opinion.

May want to recheck that, the lower end tools do not have a lifetime warranty. I found this out when I tried to get a broken ratchet replaced.

someone ripped you because all craftsman hand tools have the lifetime guarantee because I never buy the pro series and always got replaced no ?"s does make a difference on store and salesperson as they dont all know what they are doing.

Thats right all 'craftsman' tools do now sears is selling some lower homeowner/occasional use line that i do not thing have the warranty with them, but all craftsman do. Perhaps that is the kind you had. I returned a 9/16" wrench that was a made in china job and like the other fellow said no questions asked like any other craftsman tool.
