OT---More wasted money

Got a Census letter today and got ready to fill it out. Found out it was just saying that I should be getting the real one in a few days and to fill it out.
I wonder why this first letter was sent and how much government money is wasted?

You think that is wasting money? I work for the state of Ca and boy do we waste money. We spend $413 on an office task chair. Yes the back moves and it tilts, but it isn't gold plated.

The real scam is all the prevailing wage (public works projects). Where else can you have no education and make $43 an hour being a laborer on a construction site?

Was just googling to find contents of a general and master mechanic too kit that the military uses. ran across a 136 pc craftsman automotive mechanic kit (punch/chisel, hammer, socket and wrench set, screwdrivers , couple feeler gauges and a fancy box..... Over $2k. Hate to think what the same tools would cost at sears.....

Prevailing wage is just a way for the union contractors to compete. Kind of makes you wonder how much "Davis Bacon" has costed the American public in the last 20 years.

You want to see stupid. I was making my weekly BEER store run down the back roads.Saw the Census booklets hanging off of gates to empty fields. No won there but the cows and deer. Also saw some on the gates to homes where the roof fell in years ago. In town saw one hanging off the door of a burned out house. I got a letter today telling me about getting the package I got last week. They can't get the Census books out correctly, hate to see what they would do with health care.

I got the same letter and wondered the same thing. My Mom, who lives in a retirement apartment, got 2 of the letters, which were exactly the same, including the detailed addresses.

Of course, I suppose the government doesn't have to pay postage for "official business". I still bet every one of those letters cost the better part of a dollar to generate and send.

Wonder whose idea that was? Dumb, dumb, dumb!

Oh, I forgot to mention that we have our envelopes printed in Pa and shipped to us. I can't believe that is cost effective. Just received another 20,000 (that is correct) today. Only have about 65,000 other ones in the file room. Oh, and we have booklets printed (again by the case full in PA) and shipped to us. We throw away the extras each year, which amounts to about a dozen and a half or more paper boxes packed to the brim. What a waster, but heck government isn't good for much else.

Total cost to complete 2010 census is estimated to be about $30 per person. But the government did the calculating so you'd better add some more to get the actual!!

Thats nothing, think what it costs for the crappy commercials they've been airing all over the television stations asking people to fill it in and send it back. I can't even begin to imagine what all the air time costs the taxPAYERS for that bs.

Every ten years. . .

It's supposed to be cheaper to use the mail and advertizing, rather than a foot soldier. The advertizing is an attempt to coax people into filling it out. We like to resist. . .
