Old John Deere baler

I ran across an old JD baler yesterday. It has a ram that goes sideways and would have kicked the bale out the left side. Anyone know the model number and if it is worth anything....some parts are missing.

Maybe that's a 114? What parts are missing and in what condition? If the parts aren't available, it's probably worth scrap prices.

Since I've never seen one before it is hard to tell what all is missing...I'd say at least some gears and chain on the back, and I didn't notice any knotters. It does have walking axles and 4 wheels, tho.

probably a 114w or 116w wire tie pickup baler, took a complete one to the NY 2 cylinder expo last year and got $65 for it (was worth more than that in scrap).2 years prior one went for $750.No telling what the market will bear. Bill m.

You say walking axles and 4 wheels, Deere never had that on what we call a sidewinder baler that includes both the 114W and 116W balers and they never had knotters as they were only a wire tie baler and had what was called a wire twister. The 2 wheels were individually mounted and it did not have a common axle and the drive on the back was a big heavy V belt. I have both a early and a late version of the 116W, they use 4 rolls of wire with 2 mounted on top of the bale chamber while the other 2 are mounted under the bale chamber. The 114 is a 14" machine and only made like the later version of the 116 that is a 16" baler. The pto shaft is inside the toung. Sounds like it is something different than a Deere baler.

Sure would like to see some pictures of that baler. Are you going to pick it up?Did you get that ground work down? Have a good night. BlaineF
