Called about an ad in the local paper for hay and oats. Turned out to be 4 miles away. 1st cut 2009 hay (pasture mix) in 40 (+/-) pound bales for 1 euro ($1.35) and 50kg oats for 4 euro ($5.43). Delivered help unload for 10 bucks a trip. We'll feed him good and I'll send him home with a bottle of Jack Daniels, but the price is good and the hay and oats are top choice.

(quoted from post at 05:33:40 03/11/10) How can that guy even afford to bale it for 1.35 a bale?
Not a lot of upkeep costs go into the hay itself. It is borders around fields and orchards that was planted once with a good pasture mix then mowed once a year. He just told the wife on the phone today that he works at the local prison and can sign out prisoners. He's out fuel, wear and tear, and time supervising.
