stuck clutch

Got a 2-85 thats been sitting since last september It will start in neutral but when you go to put it in gear it grinds and it will start in gear but it takes off When it cranks over it starts to move with the clutch push down I ajusted it for 2 hour an it done the same thing When I took the clutch inspection cover off it, it had water on it so I figure its a froze clutch It shifted fine the last time I drove it
HELP!!!!

Head it out the door so as to aim at a clear stretch of nothing to hit. Start it in 3rd gear holding down the clutch. when it gets up to speed, mash the brakes. If that still doesn't do it (it will) drive it for 20 minutes doing the brake thing intermittently, Do not ride the brakes, just try to lock them up every 20 feet or so. Jim

if Jan's method doesn't work and there's an inspection plate on the bellhousing you can open, sometimes BOILING water poured thru the plate hole onto the clutch & pressure plate will expand things enough to break free. Some have had to remove the starter & pour boiling soapy water on the inside, then run it & use brakes.

Try putting the transmission in neutral (or Park if it has one); tie the clutch pedal down; start the engine and let it run at fast idle (1500-1800 rpm); walk off and let it run. The vibration will often/usually shake it loose.

That only works if your PTO is tied to your clutch. Newer tractors with independant PTO's won't do anything.

clutch Is STUCK ... MORE than likely Your Adjustment is OK ...Leave the wrenches alone and get a can of Brake parts Cleaner to spray in there .. check for grease fitting inthe Throwout bearing .. start it in very slow Gear.. throttle speedshift glide it to higher gears , all the while punching clutch .Hook up a plow and hold the clutch down .. do NOT FORCE TRANNY into gears ,. next repair will be bent forks ...in the future block clutch pedal down for sleeping times ...
