Sunshine, digging snow and three legged deer photos

Dug a road through my fields yesderday with a bulldozer and crawler-loader. We've had temps a little over freezing for three days and snow is now down to 2-3 feet deep.

Supposed to hit almost 40 F degrees today.

Deere are all around the house now using the new road I dug, to eat what little old grass there is. One deer has a bad leg and only walks on three. But, she seems to be the boss of the herd. We counted 14 standing by the house. There are at least three of last year's fawns out there, and I'm glad and surprised they survived the winter.

Also hooked a crawler to our little Chevy SUV that was completely buried in snow and towed it out to "get some sun."

Thanks for the pics jd, I bet your glad to see the sun today shining on those solar panels.;)lol J

I've been counting up to 65 deer from my front window in the late afteernoon. I put 10 bu of corn out there and the little herd of 15 went through that pretty fast.
The skinniest deer here looks better than any of those. They are pretty stressed. Can you toss them some hay?

Gordo

I just put out several bushels of whole corn. It's two years old, but I'm sure they won't be too picky.

J de. Man O live, You sure had the snow !! Liked the pictures. Now that every thing is somewhat under control, time for some SASAFRAS TEA.lol. (add a little brandy with it and things will go much better, Makes for a more harmonious outcome. REGUARDS LOU & VICTOR.

Department of Natural Resources of Manitoba does not recommend feeding deer in the winter (or any other time for that matter). By the time a deer is starting to look like it is starving (in Manitoba at least) it is too late to save it with a high energy ration. Keep in mind that a lot more deer winter kill in Manitoba from cold temps than deep snow. I am 57 years old and only twice in my life have I seen the amount of snowfall (at home) that you have in those pictures. Spring is a long ways away here yet, but as of today a 4X4 truck would cross most fields in flat country.
