Can somebody help me figure out what I have?

Under one of our shelters in a pile of plow parts there is an "arch" made out of approx 3" pipe that hooks to a 3 point lift. Suspended from the center is a long steel "pendulum" for lack of a better term. Does anyone know what this is or what it is part of? I'll try to get some pictures later.

If the pendulum thing looks like an augur and it's got a PTO shaft hooked to the top or a place where a PTO shaft hooked up to before it got lost/broken/etc, it's a post hole digger.

it's nothing like that. the piece in the middle is a solid piece of steel about an inch thick and 4"wide at the bottom. it tapers to about half that at the top. it appears to be factory made and is painted a grayish blue. I'll probably feel stupid when I find out what it is.

kinda sounds like maby part of a pto post hole auger? or boom pole for lifting.

Above is a picture. It has a Massey Ferguson UK tag on it and at the end of the center piece is a clevis and chain that appears to be factory installed. [/img]

Almost looks to me like part of a 3pt mounted cycle bar mower. That's kinda what I thought it might be from the description before the picture.

Any chance it is one of thse gadgets that transfers weight from a wagon/manure spreader to the tractor back wheels to help traction. I have seen a similar set-up in MF manuals.. Just a guess...

I think that chain goes around the tongue of a wagon or whatever, that is attached to the drawbar.. The you use the 3PH to add or subtract weight to the rear of the tractor for better traction..

I think that may be one of those MF pressure controlled hitches.

That's exactly what I have. I know our 175 has the pressure control, but I don't think the 135 does. My grandfather purchased the 175 as a year-old trade-in from a dealer in 1970. We still have the manual that came with the tractor so I'll get it out and see what it says about the operation of the hitch.

You have a massey ferguson pressure control hitch. they were made for Mf 100 series tractors,it is a weight transfer hitch.
