Mom sent me a text the other day that the neighbor's (and renter's) dog found the electric fence in the cow yard. Trouble is, the dog is deaf and they just don't watch it, they just open the door and let it out.

Being that the farm is on a major highway, we all pretty much know what is an inevitable fate as many of our own dogs have had the same fate of being hit on the road. I'm not sure what the breed is, but it's a pretty big mutt. They got it as a puppy last fall. They never seem to keep an eye on it and this isn't the first time it's been in the cow yard, but this is the first time it touched the fence. Mom said that poor dog was screaming for a good while. Also being spring, the cow yard is thawing out from a winter of manure and snow, which means it is extremely sloppy, and they had to bring the dog inside where it lives.

Another trouble is that they never pick up after it, and that it gets to run around some it ussually goes in my parents and my brother's yard, and they have to pick it up. We've told them straight out the risks of letting it loose and not watching it, but it doesn't seem to make much difference. Not the dog's fault it's owner is an idiot, but unfortunatly it will be the one to suffer when it gets hit on the road.

Bit of a ramble I guess, just frustrated with stupid neighbors.

I've got it worse.. My neighbor is a cop/farmer who's dog is an ex police dog that couldn't be trained..It has already cornered my wife coming out of the shed and scares the life out of my daughter. He says it's just being friendly. Oh yeh,it eats chickens..My other neighbors go through dogs yearly and replace them with the exact same type of dog and give it the same name even. I just don't get it.

If a dog came on my place and scared the daughter and wife, there would be a doggie funeral in the future! Since it is an ex police dog it should know the rules regarding trespass.

I can't really b!tch about the dog much, just the neighbor. One time when working up a field I found a rusty choker chain w/ rusted tags on it hung up on one of the teeth on the field cultivator. Not sure what happened to the dog tho...

You're probably better and safer to kill it outright. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end after I p!ssed it off or some dogooder see you and report you for cruelty.

If the dog causes damage or injury on the highway the owner is responsible in most states.

My kids have airsoft rifles. They will penetrate a tin can at short distances. Best to try not to hit the dog in the head.

We had a "grass-widder" move in across the road, and the first thing she did, when she arrived, was let her 2 pamperred Cocker Spaniels out of her car! Then those rats came over to my yard, and did the business on my lawn and driveway.
Of course, i had to inform her that we have a dog law in our town, but she implied it didn't peretain to her.
Well, after a bunch of polite warnings, and piles/shovels of dog poo dumped in her yard and porch, which got no results, except she dumped the poo in our front yard. I took drastic measures!
I would stroll around my front yard, carrying my BB gun pistol, taking pot shots at everything except our cars. That got her attention. One day not long after that, i looked out a side window, and those 2 rats were into the garbage cans. So, i opened the window, and dumped a handful of BB's on their heads, and they ran home! The owner didn't see me, but she got the idea! Not long after--she moved away, never to be heard from again! Good riddance!
