Further question on home made cables. Can I use the same flux and solder I use for copper tubing to attach the terminals? I ordered today the flexible welding type for this project. thanks, Sam

You can use that solder, only thing is that is an acid core, could cause corrosion, better to get some resin core that is used for electrical, for no corrosion problems

No acid core wire causes problem when used on copper and will sooner or later cause the joint to corrode and that in turn will cause you to have bad connections that will drive you nuts

I never use acid core for electrical wiring but the plain old resin. I only use acid core for like guttering etc back in the olddddddddd days.

Hello Sam Mills,
Crimp, solder, shrink wrap or tape, and use rosin core solder. That is the proper procedure.
Guido.
