Rabbit hunting with my begale

Took my little female begale out rabbit hunting yesterday, without a gun, just wanted her to get some exersice and what does she come running back with? a rabbit she had caught. I heard her yipping and couldnt she her for a few minutes and then she came running back with it. I NEVER thought she would actually catch one. Rabbit must have been a little slow in the head or got caught in a bad spot. Helps that there is only a bit of snow here in the tip of the mitt in Michigan.
Anyone have a begale catch a rabbit before??

I have a beagle/corgy mix. He was acting strange the other day. I go out to see, there is blood all over the snow where he is digging. Got him in the house, it does not appear to be his blood! So, later I decide I better get to the bottom of things. I dig out the snow bank, and there is a dead rabbit. He had gotten it in the butt-and there was standing water where this was, so I think the rabbit finally drowned itself escaping my dog. By the way, he is still cleaning his teeth LOL! Greg

I have a beagle as well and he used to be a good rabbit chaser when he was younger but he ate rat poison and i almost lost him and then he was tied up in the back yard and bit the 220 wire to the AC unit and it almost killed him, knocked him out for twenty minutes but he finally came back he is the smartest dog tho, he can army crawl speak play dead all sorts of tricks,

My female beagle has killed 2 rabbits. One she pulled from a hole the other she pulled from under a bush. I am more impressed that your beagle came back, mine is not so good at that.

Well, I guess you won't need your gun then. Just send her out and she will bring them back.

Gotta love those beagles. They are really nice dogs. I have one that will chase any small game, but lately seems to be more interested in supper.

our Dachshund kill a coon,2 cats, squirrels, and a opossum and she is only 11 mounts old and 10lbs she is scared of nothing great watch dog can hear a pin drop and smell like no other dog we ever had

we have a female begale she is a great dog, except she will dump over the trash can and dig into the cat tray if we are not constantly watching her. she is fed well but always acts hungry. Ever hear of such symptoms ?

I always had beagles. Had a 3 month or so pup and wanted to start her so had a live trap out and caught a rabbit. Carried the trap home and set it in the yard while we had breakfast and done chores. She discovered the rabbit as soon as I let her out and barked constantly. Couldn't watch her,so put her in the trap with the rabbit. Figured I'd go back to a dead rabbit cause things were quiet. About an hour later, I find the rabbit laying in the trap like it belonged there and the dog asleep with her head on the rabbit. About a month later, she was loose while I was working in the yard. Heard her barking and a rabbit hops into the yard. Only had a 22 and shot it, it kept going so I figured I'd missed (it wasn't on the frt porch eating cat food). Here comes my baby, yipping and squaling right where the rabbit had gone like a pro. Things got quiet and I kept on working figuring she'd lost the trail. When she didn't show up, I went looking and found the dead rabbit with her laying with her head on it. Turned out to be the best dog I had, just had to make sure I killed the rabbits in their tracks.

Ive got another beagle mix that is an inside dog and shes a trash hound. Tried diff things and she still finds a way to open the latch on a cupboard and opens it to get at the trash.
