What are you guys talking about UP, whats that. I may know but havent figured it out yet! I must be groggy from pushing so much snow ;) J

Glad to see you made threw your game of hockey! CR time yet? One other thing, great closing cermoney tonight. No problems, I guess you missed it while you were on the ice! LOL J

Been watching the cerimonies for the past hour or so.
Not too bad but at times the "humour" was rude or just lacked "funny".
Michel J Fox did well enough.
At least the Olynpic Torch folded down into the floor properly.

Yes, Upper Peninsula. And, since the UP is separated from all below it by the New Yorker-built Mackinac bridge, everyone "below the bridge" is a troll.

I acquired those bits of Michigan wisdom over the years since I'm married to a Michigan native and spend a lot of time "up" there.

If you want some insight to rural UP people, get the Jeff Daniels movie, "Escanaba in the Moonlight."

I've read the book on the building of the bridge, have the movies and been to the museum in Mackinac City and I'm not sure of the accuracy of the "New Yorker-built" statement. Don't seem to recall that, I think the workers came from all over. Is that just you (a NYer) getting a plug in?

It IS a fascinating story, built on budget and on-time.

You know where Lake Superior is? Well all that rock and minerals that came out of that huuuugggge hole is all piled up just south of the lake. It is named the Upper Penninsula of Michigan. Beautiful place to visit , hard place to live. them UPers like it that way! The city people leave 'em alone. You go to a restaurant and you get fed...you better be hungry. Don't go in and start "pickin'" at a salad like they do in the city , they take it as an insult! There are a couple Universities but other than that people up there work for a living. I'm sorry , did I just say that? If you like natural wonders , antique tractors , horseshoes and whitefish then plan your next vacation there! Make sure and plan it around the 700-800 tractor Macanac Bridge crossing in September!

Love it UP here can't deal with them "big" cities downstate. Besides that you can't get a good pasty downstate, and I hear Trolls put gravy on pasties when they do eat them :x, thats a sin.
