I am planning on attending the derby this year My daughter has been accepted through her school to to be a chef at the event. I have never been there does antone have info.like what kind of tickets I should get or any type of advise what to see while there other than the race. Just looking for some input
Thanks

IF you don't have tickets all ready plan on paying quite a bit of money, they are not easy to come by. That being said, if you are going to buy tickets from a broker, get the best that you can afford because it will be the most crowded event you have ever seen and the better the ticket the better the chance you will get some elbow room......

you can check churchhill downs websight for ticket info.Id at least get a seat with a roof over it unless your tuff. Louisville has a firearms museum, cashus clay museaum ,mamoth cave is just south biggest cave in the usa,a horse shoe casino is nearby.there is also a harbor freight store......

If you're over 25 years old and not a total sot, don't even consider infield tickets. The Rose Garden tickets will be crowded and fun, but a different (Older more sedate) kind of fun. Oaks is when most of us locals go for Derby week. Accomodations will also be dificult to obtain this late in the year. I always enjoy chuckwagon, an on street party with lots of food in the evenings.

Thanks for the info wife and I are 42 and 43 yrs old I am able to afford to buy what I want or need to have a good time just do not want to pay 1000 for a bad time or for the same admision that 500 would get the only real reason for going is to see my daughter cooking she is in her 3rd yr of culinary one more yr she will have a ba degree. We normally have a party on the river here in pittsburgh first week end the boat goes in the water.

Get the very best tickets you can. The infield is a mob of drunks. Its fun and I still like to go but you wouldnt know there was even a horse race. To actually watch the race and enjoy the event you need to be up in the stands. I let my PSL expire a couple of years ago. Its worth it though.

Been there a couple times, good time if the weather is decent.Best bet at this late date is contact a Louisville travel agent and see if they still have any packages left.tickets ,hotel, transportation ,usually a 2 or 3 day deal at the Galt House or similar. They usually buy up a large block of tickets years in advance and put pkgs. together.Good luck
