This is a picture of my old road tractor. In its day it put the KW and the pete to shame but then the gov took care of them. ask and I'll tell you that story.
Any how this is my 1963 Diamond-T 990 road tractor that I hope one day I can find the parts to put the old girl back on the road. Wouldn't it be nice to see this old girl hauling 3 or 4 tractors to a tractor show. When polished up that radiator will shine so good you can count your teeth in it or sneek a look at that cutie your trying to hide your looking at from your wife LOL

I dont know alot about big trucks . How does the diamond t compare to a mack ? Or is that a question that will get you in trouble on this site? What the heck, stand tall answer my question!!

I had a friend who died a few years ago who had ben a trucker shortly after WW2 with a LJ Mack. His som wanted to know what a LJ looked like. I finally found one is a junk yard and photographed it for the young man(about 40). This Mack was a bit different as it had a Cummins. There were not many diesels onthe road at that time.

Diamond,s are forever,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Macks are a dog,,,,,,,LOL,,,,,,,,sorry,,,,Im just being silly here,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I grew up near Lansing where the Reo plant was located - anytime you drove past the plant you would see all types of Reo's, etc. that looked just like your old ride. We had a fire engine with a simiar cab. The plant is long gone.

diamond T was known for building really good trucks, back in the day a diamond T was the nicest ride on the road, it was a premium grade rig, macks are good trucks too, but comparing like years and models, diamond t was just plain nicer and could have more power depending on what engine the owner ordered it with cunnins, 220, 262, supercharged 275's were common, later the 290

Guy once told me the two most overrated things in the world are teenage p---- and Mack trucks.

Love the old Diamond T's- especially the one ton variety. Would love to put a Dodge Cummins in one, if I could ever find a Diamond T that I could afford.

The Roe is /was a different truck then the Diamond-T was. Ya sometime in the late 50s or early 60s Diamond-T bought Reo out and then they started making the Diamond Reo and the Ts. Ya very close to the same trucks but sort of like the Olds and the Chevs are/where

It is sitting at a repair shop and I need to get it home if and when my back pocket will let me that is. Some how one like that you don't just load up and pull home behind a pick up truck. Also right now it has a dump bed on it which if I ever get it back home and up and running I'll probably pull off so I can use it to haul tractors the the shows

Old, What year did they quit making Diamond Reo"s. There was a guy that use to haul livestock that had a cab over, that looked as good 6 or 7 years ago than it did the day it was new. I thought the year of it was an in the early 70"s but could be wrong. It was a good solid truck.

Sounds like you know your trucks. Yep that old girl sure has hauled a lot of stuff for me and I do want to get the old girl back up and running if I can ever find the parts I need for it. It has a 190 with the 220 sleeve set in it and I need one sleeve and piston for it. Cummins no longer makes of carry's that sleeve so the only way I can do it through them is to buy all 6 at $500 plus per holes which is a tad bit more then I have to throw into the old girl. But boy do I miss driving that old girl she was a nice ride slow but sure rode better then any other truck I ever drove. It was almost like sitting in your easy chair when driving it the seat was oh so nice

The exact year I do not remember but it was some time in the early 70s and I think it was 1974 but as I said can not be 100% sure. I do know they where making the Diamond Reo and the Diamond-T at the same time but the T was to caddy of the 2 of them and the reo was a tad bit cheaper built. The gov. was the cause of them closing down due to gov contracts with out an inflation clause. Diamond made the 6X6 trucks for the military and got to the point the truck was costing more the make then the gov was paying for them so Diamond went belly up

old, have you talked to tom warren @vintage trucks in amarillo tx? he has stuff for old diamond t's, numbers are 806-374-3056, or home is 806-374-4078, you might maybe get lucky there

Thanks for the number. I have not looked for parts for it for a few years because back then I could not find any thing. A few years back I found a truck like mine but the guy wanted $1500 for it and the engine was locked up so I did n;t buy it and then I found a 1956 Diamond-T but that guy never got back to me as to if he would sell it

hey Old , Why not put Your Stories to use telling about your trucks ,,...... Got a story about my Great uncle And His Diamond T loaded with HIS sons , running some 2 miles thru the OHIO river backwater on State Road 111 to fetch his daughter .. She Had gone temporarily nuts waiting for her 2 teenaged sons to return that had drowned on the Dairy farm . and would not leave in a BOAT . Great Uncle Joe Arrived there with kin folks .. State Police would not allow Him in the water .. UNCLE JOE would not take NO for an answer .. SP told JOE to take 2 trucks , And They Were at their Own risk , So they took the fan belt off the flat head FORD , 1 hour later When "T" Came Back it was towing the foundered Ford , (some places were 4 ft deep By the grace of GOD they never Lost Pavement ) ... And Uncle JOe Had His Daughter and fine Son in Law .. and That poor State Policeman was so Relieved ... That was 1964...

Shoot if I told half the story's of my life on here one one else would have room to post any thing. Like the time I was on a JD350 track loader and a friend on a case 680 back hoe. I was trying to get a pond dug and he was digging holes all over the place. Well I was on that JD 350 and moving dirt as he dug it up. Well I got to close to one hole and backed that 350 into the hole. From there it gets a bit fuzzy and I do not remember if it stalled or want but I know I was stuck and I could not even move because of the angle it was sitting at. Well this guy saw me go in and figured I was dead. He got to me and found me sitting there but unable to do much more then sit there. Long story short he pull me and that 350 out with the hoe
