Ah, not just any "old cars"- HUDSON old cars! I am transferring this info to the Hudson site. Expect calls. . . MANY calls. There is no more rabid group than the Hudson followers. BTW- I want the station wagon. . .

Hudson Hornet was a hot car in about 1951, I believe it won stock car race at Minn State fair, after that Ernie Deer (spelling) from Keokuck, Iowa took over with his Oldsmobile.

The building must have been a Ford design specification. There is a nearly identical building near my home town that was a Ford dealership in the 1950s and early 1960s.

I really couldnt say , but my neighbor has a ford workmaster in her barn that her father bought at that dealership, It is red I dont know what year it is

Not that far from me...probably 1 1/2 hours. There is a GM dealer of about the same vintage that I passed one time. I cant remember where it is. Either Mifflinburg or Snyder/Juniata county line. The building looks straight out of the 60's. I think they were in business till the last year or so. Looks like they just closed the doors and walked away...no cars in it though...

The Ford dealership - Burtis Motors - in Garden City Ks looks the same. They moved into a new building in the 70's.
Building on Main st looks the same

Don't hold it against me, but it was spelled "Derr". We raced against him at some IMCA shows.

The Ford dealership here looked like taht too, although taller - they had living quarters on the 2nd floor. Closed in the '80's, building was leveled by a tornado about 6 or 7 years ago.

Goose.....thanks for keeping the Derr name on a pedestal where it belongs......great driver and Iowa hero.....still remember well a battle he had with his hemi Dodge IMCA car and Bill Beckman in a local late model Camaro convertible. Battled for 100 laps in Cedar Rapids bumper to bumper with dramatically different types of cars......Derr bumped Beckman once and Beckman stuck his left arm out the window and flipped him off.....in the corner !!
