I just bought a 1948 John Deere putt putt, I was wondering what kind and how much oil to use in final drive?

john deere made several different model putt putts in 48, and each one holds a different amount.

Here in NE Texas, we use 140wt. gear oil in all our tractors.

Each model has a different capacity; just fill to the threads on your tractor.

I use 85W-140 in almost all my tractor rear ends and that includes my 1935 JD-B
