Seems there is a theme here meanime on old trucks so just thought I would share a picture of my 1960's Bedford RL 4x4 wrecker with Bedford 330ci diesel engine. Originally designed for the British Army they were fitted with 5 ltre gas engines returning around 7 mpg unless used in 4x4 in which case more like 3mpg (rather expensive to run here at around $8 per gallon. They were said to be capable of climbing an angle of 30 degress fully laden and had lots of flex in the chassis allowing all 4 wheel to remain planted on the ground most of the time. It worked locally for around 30 years recovering hundreds of wrecked cars and vans with the odd light truck. I bought it around 2 years ago with the thought of restoring it and using it to haul some of my smaller tractors behind on a trailor. Anyway just thought you might like seeing something different to your own Macks etc.
